We are an American Shorthair Cat Breeder based in

Why Choose an
American Shorthair?

American Shorthair Kittens are known for their longevity, robust health, good looks, quiet disposition and amiability with children and dogs. The American Shorthair, also known as ASH, is America’s own breed. Its ancestors came to North America with early settlers from Europe. Records indicate that the “Mayflower” carried several cats to hunt ship’s rats. For centuries, “working cats” flourished along with their pioneer owners and eventually established themselves as the native North American short haired cat.

American Shorthair Breeders consider the silver tabby as the most well-known color today, with dense black markings set on a sterling silver background. You probably have seen an example of this striking variety in television and magazine advertising or in recent movie roles.

The American Shorthair Silver Tabby is the most popular color with the Brown Tabby and Silver Tabby and White as a close second. There are over 210 color variations to choose from so finding the best color to match your style will not be difficult.

An American Shorthair Cat Breeder focuses on breeding a cat that is powerful and well structured. All components of this cat should be well developed. With a broad chest, a muscular neck, strong jaws and a well-developed muzzle, the American Shorthair is one of the most powerful cats of the domestic feline world. Its legs are thick and strong, with well-developed hindquarters. It looks like what it was originally meant to be, a powerful cat to keep rodents out of the barn and the house.

The coat of the American Shorthair is thick and dense. The coat becomes much longer and thicker during the winter. The texture of the coat is relatively hard as it is meant as protection for her.

We’ve had our kitten, Theo, with us for just over three weeks, but we already can’t remember a time without him. We are absolutely in love. Thank you, Milla and David, for doing such a wonderful job caring for him. It shows in every way—how comfortable he is with us and others, how friendly and playful he is (seriously, he’s all the entertainment…

I own a veterinary hospital in Arizona, and we’ve always had a clinic cat to cuddle between appointments and boost staff morale. Our previous clinic cat passed away in 2020, and his absence was deeply felt by all of us. We wanted a very special cat—not just to fill the void in our hearts, but one who would thrive in an animal hospital environment…

We settled on getting an American Shorthair because they had everything we wanted! We found MillaKats when we searched online for breeders. After going t…

When it comes to writing reviews, we’ve all heard the standard “it was great, couldn’t be happier blah blah”, routine but with my experience with David and Milla that just doesn’t do it justice. From the moment I spoke with David in my initial inquiry on how to replace my beloved silver tabby “Duma”, after he passed at 15 from a tumor in his mouth…

If, like us, you believe that the day God created the first cat was one of God’s best days, you’ll agree—upon meeting a kitten from Milla’s Cattery—that these American Shorthair kittens are exactly what He had in mind when He created cats: confident, charming, playful, healthy, gorgeous, robust, and above all, loving. Add to those qualities the fa…

I could not have asked for a more perfect cat. He is an absolute joy. You guys have done such an amazing job. He is the sweetest. We are all over the moon with him. His personality is identical to Willow’s. They play perfectly together. He has brought so much happiness to her and calms her. Which is a big deal due to her autism spectrum disorder…

David, Thank you for sending this little angel to me! She is the most lovely American Shorthair I’ve ever seen. She is so energy, but also super gentle to people. She is also very smart, she always keep quiet while I was sleeping. Me and my roommate love her so much! I will treat her like my own daughter, and take care of her forever.
